'Protection'
A one off, original signed artwork.
Paper A4
I don’t know if I can, or even if I want to, be a mum.
At 38, the space to decide feels smaller every day. I watch friends try for years, their longing stretching out into time. Others, it just happens. No roadmap, no guarantees. Just a before and an after.
Would I be a good mum? Would I mourn the life I had before? Would I regret the choice—whichever way I choose?
Motherhood carries so many unspoken taboos. The expectations. The sacrifices. The parts no one warns you about. And yet, there is also something deep, something instinctual in the act of protecting, holding, creating.
This piece came from that space. The questioning. The pull and the fear. A hand wrapped around something fragile and precious, something not yet formed, but felt.
Charcoal on A4 paper.
Please note that the nature of charcoal is delicate. It’s what makes it so expressive and energetic, but it also needs to be handled with extra care. There may be small imperfections, as often comes with this material, but that’s what makes it extra special for me.
I advise keeping it safe in it’s wrapping until you’re ready to frame it.
