The story so far

I tried writing this in the third person. Polished, professional, distant. But that felt wrong. So here we are.

I’m Louise. Lou to most. I’ve spent the last 15+ years working as an Art Director and Creative Director in fashion, music, and culture. Before that, I studied at Norwich School of Art and Design, where I fell hard for life drawing, then went on to Brighton University for Graphic Design.

That first year at art school? Best year of my life. Drawing for hours, hands covered in charcoal, lost in the process. But then reality kicked in. No trust fund, no roadmap for how to make this a living, and a well-meaning but slightly jaded tutor steering me toward something "more practical." So, Graphic Design it was. And it served me well. I’ve worked with brilliant brands, learned how to build narratives, and spent years refining aesthetics, making things that—on the surface—looked great.

But something kept pulling me back. Back to making by hand. Back to creating for the sake of it—not for deadlines, not for brands, not for engagement metrics. Back to work that isn’t polished but honest. Body of Feeling is my way back. A return to what feels real.

It started with scribbled notes and drawings I made for myself—things I didn’t know how to say out loud. Then I shared them, and people saw themselves in the work. A strange comfort in knowing that what we often feel alone in is, in fact, shared.

In a world of content churn, automation, and instant everything, Body of Feeling is something slower. More deliberate. A space for raw, deeply human work. Some pieces are drawings, some are quiet reminders to hold onto. Each one is created with care, made to be kept, gifted, or simply acknowledged. Because what you feel has been felt before, and will be felt again.

If this resonates, I’d love for you to follow along.

Charcoal artwork and black and white of a man and a woman in a tight embrace. two lovers entwined art.
