'Lovers'
A one off, original signed artwork.
Charcoal on A4 paper.
A desire for true intimacy. The kind that dissolves the space between two people. But when it comes close, I freeze.
My mind races ahead, constructing scenes, rehearsing words, playing out endings before beginnings have even had a chance to breathe. I get stuck in my head, trapped in a loop of overthinking, second-guessing, feeling too much and expressing too little.
And then there’s my body. This vessel that won’t always translate what my mind feels so deeply. It holds tension where I want softness, hesitation where I want ease.
This piece is that push and pull. The longing and the resistance. Two figures, almost entwined, but still holding something back.
_
Please note that the nature of charcoal is delicate. It’s what makes it so expressive and energetic, but it also needs to be handled with extra care. There may be small imperfections, as often comes with this material, but that’s what makes it extra special for me.
I advise keeping it safe in it’s wrapping until you’re ready to frame it.
